Urban planning, which involves the design and regulation of land use in urban areas, is a multifaceted discipline that can greatly benefit from a pluridisciplinary approach. This article explores the integration of diverse academic disciplines—such as engineering, architecture, sociology, environmental science, and economics—into urban planning practices. By doing so, it aims to create more sustainable, inclusive, and efficient urban environments. However, this approach also faces challenges such as communication barriers, disciplinary boundaries, and institutional resistance. This paper discusses both the benefits and challenges of pluridisciplinary approaches, providing insights into how they can enhance the planning and management of urban spaces.
